If it was me personally, I would pick the E46 M3 over the 135i, for emotive reasons only. The 135i is faster, no doubt stops better, handling I would imagine would be pretty close, it's going to be cheaper to maintain, easy to get power upgrades, newer, etc, but the sound and the look of the M3 are just An E46 M3 is my dream car, yet I have just about no desire at all to own a 135i.....

The 135i has ridiculously good brakes. I did a few back to back AHG runs in my old Evo and my old mans 135i, and there was absolutely no comparison. I was continually outbraking myself in the 135i.
