I'll chip in 2c here. It is not loud at all. It puts out a nice dak dak burble at idle and as the revs rise you know it's a Subaru but it almost has a crackle in it, sort of like when you put Lukey glass packed mufflers on a V8 but obviously with the boxer note. I don't think a Policeman would ever consider it too loud.

There is a sound file Dave has somewhere but I think that might have been when it had the STi mufflers on and the larger mid section of pipe, so it's not the same as it is now.
