If I remember correctly subaru's "official" fuel consumption, as displayed on the front windscreen (legal requirement on all brand new vehicles) of the sg forester xt was 15l/100km, this is usually the combined figure, averaged between city and freeway driving.

this figure alone put me off the idea of buying the missus one back in '04.
