+1 for faulty fuel pump

+1 for faulty immoboliser or Brant

this happend to one of our cars and after "limping" for awhile.. it did not start, nor primed.
Did the "kick-start" on the wrx but it started awhile and after less then a sec, it died.
Had the fuel pump changed and the immoboliser taken out and it fired-up sweet.
Usually it's the simplest things that complicate matters.
