As quoted from RSLC, lol:

"aww it makes so much sense now how they styled the gen5 ... someone discovered the "warp" feature on photo shop"

The old car had such classic clean lines and looked great in even its most basic non turbo specification. I absolutely loved the frameless doors and the glass house effect of all Subaru Liberty wagons right up until this model. Why couldn't they just evolve it more! Why do new models these days have to be so garish and over the top!

Where has the attention to detail gone as well? For example, the gen 4 had beautiful moulded oval exhaust tips whereas the new gen 5 tips look small, poky and tacked on with an exposed screw and may as well be from a Kia.

The gen 4 interior had beautiful soft feel materials which gave the car a real touch of class, the new interior is cheap and hard.

Not only that, but Subaru have cut costs and the 6 speed in the new Liberty's is now just a modified version of the old 5 speed with an extended transfer case for the 6th gear and uses a cable driven shifter system rather than proper metal linkages.

Unfortunately, this is what happens as Subaru tries to move the Liberty more and more into the bland "mainstream" and in general as manufacturers try and cater more and more to the American market (Sorry Dave!).

I think we can wave goodbye to the Liberty GT being a true performance car like its predecessors... in the days of crash safety, emissions, fuel economy and push button handbrakes, performance just isn't important to Subaru anymore for this model!
