Angry The Storm took my WRX... Engine rebuilds?

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately the Storm took my WRX away from me (Flooding of the Engine)

My insurance company advised it's going to be a write-off, so now I'm stuck in a hard place. Apparently to bring it back to life would require a new / recond engine.

So here are my questions;

If i choose to buy it back from Insurance could I source a new Engine here (in Perth) and what would it cost to transplant / get back on the road again? (It's a 1999 WRX)

Secondly, What repercussions from flooding if any would occur in the future? IE wires rusting over time etc?

Thirdly, would dropping in a STI engine be possible as opposed to the equivalent one I have now?

Bear in mind this is all dependant on how much the buy back cost will be (I havn't been told yet)

Obviously if it's too costly (over 8 - 9k inc buy back of car) then its probably not worth it..

Cheers for the assistance,
Matt

P.S. I can tell this is going to turn into a heated debate
