Default Steering Whining Noise

Hey All,

MY06 STI (no real mods except rims)

I've got a really odd whining noise occuring during turning at very low speeds, almost when at full lock. Level of noise is depended on how fast/revs Im doing and only seems to occur directly after start up. HOWEVER when I went to show someone the noise and the c.diff was set to full lock (which I never have set anyway, I'm guessing someone must have fiddled) and I went and drove in a circle and the noise went NUTS and I could feel a massive vibration comming through the steering wheel, I promptly shat myself thinking I'd fucked something, straightend up, but the noise didnt go away after straightning up this time. I limped around for a little while and the noise eventualy went away.

I checked out the search and a few people had similar problems but the noise ALWAYS went away after straightning up in their cases. The noise seems directly related to what setting the c.diff is set to after that little test so the question is, is my central diff rooted? I chcked the power steering fluid it seems fine, some other people made comments about rotors etc.

Any opinions?

Thanks guys
