Corrie (gx_rex) also sells struts that lift the bonnet vertical that are heaps more stable than this solution. Stace has a set I think.

Well worth it in my opinion. He also gets his struts from a local supplier rather than some of the cheap "ebay spec" ones you see from time to time.
