It has happened to my lancer & it does it with Rex also. I turn the nozzle around a little until it stops farting around to make it work. I figured it happens cos the pump flows too fast for the filler to cope so it blows it back a little making the pump think the tank is full?

A bit like trying to fill a water bottle too fast from the tap.
