Don't come to a cruise on L-plates.
1. L-plates usually indicate you have no experience driving and can do something 'random' which might cause a problem. People wish to avoid this.
2. I wouldn't want to be involved with an insurance claim whilst on a cruise involving a L-plater.
You are excited, which is cool. But be smart like you have said and get the old boy to drive. You will earn more respect doing that.
