Ahh.. what about the Japanese Grand Touring series?
They were in abundant numbers there.. funnily enough being Japanese and all.
To be eligable to race in group a they had to build 500 road going versions.. which is the first 500 they built. They built substantially more than that too.
Nissan Japan choose to give Gibson motorsport access to the GTR as they had been pretty impressive running the HR31's before it.
It didnt matter that it didnt run in Europe - FISA was in charge of the group a regs and they allowed it to race.. and FISA funnily enough was European.
