If I were you, I'd:

- Get report from Subaru mechanic
- Get photos of damage (metallic particles in oil indicating spun big end bearing).
- Hit dealership up for cost of 2nd hand motor
- Buy that 2nd hand motor
- Get a Subaru specialist to install it (shouldn't be an issue as a long motor swap is fairly simple.. try All-Star Garage, Maximum Motorsport or STechnic as 3 good examples of workshops).
