Default My WRX tale

Hey there everyone,

I don't currently own a rex, though as soon as I can get back to work and save up some dosh I intend to get one again.

My favourite WRX is the MY00 (1999) model. None of the subsequent models have ever done it for me the way those ones do.

My story is an odd one to be sure. It is set against the backdrop of a very low point in my life when, due to a bit of stupidity, lack of knowledge about WRX's, bad financial planning and a need to cheer myself up after some tough events I went out and bought a WRX on finance.

This was in august 2003......

It was a dark green 99 model wrx, fairly tidy all round with an APS package on board.
It also had lowered sports suspension, tinted windows, 3" exhaust and compared to what I was used to, a decent stereo system.
I bought it and to be completely honest fell in love with it.

I'd had it for about two months and keeping up with the car and all the other bills was already quite tight when the child support agency caught up with me. Turns out I owed them a lot. I'd recently finished Uni and started working and completely forgot that I would have to send a chunk of my earnings off to my ex to help with the kiddlywinks.

So I basically had to sell the car. But not before it decided to sh*t itself entirely necessitating an 8 grand engine re-build.

See I didn't know that having a much larger than normal turbo on the car meant I needed to get an aftermarket engine management system on it pronto, lest it melt the engine, which it did. Thanks dealers for not telling me that when you sold it to me.

This meant borrowing more money, then selling the car, getting a far crappier car and slowly paying the money off. Joy.

Ok, skip forward a few years to about two months back, I swear I'm trying to keep this brief, but I was in Fremantle and I saw my old WRX go past.
It was like seeing an old girlfriend again. Two lucky young fellas were driving it and it looked a little faded but there it was.

I would say what the rego is, but I'm not sure if that's the done thing in here or not so I won't for now.

But anyway, I will hopefully own one again one day and actually enjoy driving again, for real.
