Go to Bunnings, there are extinguishers specifically for Automotive applications. If you are intending to track the car there are rules & regs regarding the brackets used to mount them (need to be metal with metal release straps, and within reach of the driver whilst buckled in, and tagged). The ones at Bunnings are CAMS approved and relatively cheap by comparison.

I'm guessing you know there are different types of extinguishers for different types of fires, dry powder is what you want for Automotive.
