Im a little confused about the canons nommenclature well not really just want clarification..

I want to get a decent DSLR so i wont have to upgrade for a fair while..

Now looking at the 60D which is the replacement for the 50D?

With cannon does the lower the number = to a better camera. i.e 5D/6D??

Is there much benefit with either one of those over the 60D apart from the price.

Now lens, what size lens do most people commonly use? i.e 18-100mm etc? I want to get a decent single lens rather than the twin lens kit.
