Possibly the Judge was smarter than you think, had he pleaded insane as threatened, he may have been sent to an institution for the criminally insane & had a relativley cushy 10 years, this way he will go into a real prison where he "will" get his just deserves, 4yrs of constant beatings will be much more of a reward for this hero.
