The Coordinator of Angel Flights visited the Social Work department at the hospital i work at today to give a talk on what Angel Flights is all about. Angel Flights are a charity organisation which flys people from rural, remote and regional areas to metro and regional areas for medical treatment. Unlike the Royal Flying Doctor Service they are not government funded and they are staffed by volunteer ground crew and pilots who donate their time to assist people in need of medical treatment get to and from hospital. Angel flights only takes patients that are non-emergent I.e people going for chemotherapy, operations and such and the patients must be in financial hardship to qualify.
They currently have 20 flights per day around Australia and require more pilots and ground crew in order to offer more services to those in need. If you can help out check out the link below. It's also a good way to keep yourself in the air and keep your flight hours up.
