Another street option is to drop in a low Km Liberty B4 Engine.
Fred at Swan has some sitting on the shelf for $5500 from as low as 5000km. The B4 came with a higher compression ratio of 9:1, reported to have forged pistons and the same bucket over shim improved heads of the STi with sexy sodium filled valves
. Remembering the MY94 -MY02 Aus spec WRX was 8:1
They swap over all the sensors and other goodies from your standard GC8 WRX engine. The high comp engine responds well with the underated TD04. Be careful...I suspect if they are pushed with a VF**turbo it may all end in tears.
