Generally, yes. But APS-C does have its advantages.
-The crop factor gives you a range advantage. And as such, you can get better depth of field, simply because you can be further away from the subject. Remember, a shot at 100mm on a crop sensor will appear as a 160mm shot.
-Easier to auto-focus on an APC-S because the focus points are more spread out.
-Less vignetting when using a full frame lense on a crop body.
-A crop body, coupled with a full frame lense utilises only the best part of the lens. No matter how expensive you L-series or Nikon N lense is, the weakness is always the resolution in the corners.
-Lighter

If I was to get another backup body, it'd probably be a high end crop body.
