This year Perth is hosting the Australian Motorkhana Championship. It only comes here every 5-6 years, so this is a great opportunity to compete at a national level. It's probably the only national motorsport event where you can compete successfully in an unmodified road car.
It will be held at RAC Driving Centre, near the airport.
There will be trophies for first in class, first outright, and handy-capped outright. There will also be trophies for
highest placed car from each marque. A marque in this case is basically a team of same or similar cars (up to 4 of them), in our case, it'd be WRXs. So you could have "Team Hardparked" (e.g. Joe, Tino, Brent etc), "Team Handbrake!!" (Doug, Jesterifhehasacar, John.but.not.in.the.evo, hopefullyme) etc etc. Everyone is encouraged to enter!
At only $70 ($35 under 18) the 2011 AMC will be the cheapest national championship you’ll ever enter.
There is an opportunity to practice/fang around at the next two state events:
• August 21 – state motorkhana rnd 4
• September 18 – come ‘n’ try practice day
You will get a practice on the Saturday, Oct 1 from 12:30 to 4pm.
Then the Sunday morning is the event - all day.
