With the aggressive tyres, thats true up to a point. I run Cooper STTs, which is as you know is a mud tyre, not the most aggressive, but it is a muddie. On the sand, I've had no issues, (Yagerup dunes, Calcup hill etc) in summer.

I've found its more important to let the tyres down to lengthen the tyre foot print to run in sand, and its not like a 105 series Landcruiser with a 1HZ makes up for the tyres "digging in" from vast amounts of power.

The tyre may make a difference if your running a rally stage and seconds count, most 4WDing seconds don't, as it can take hours to recover a vehicle if you get it wrong.

Straight roads are for fast cars, twisty roads are for fast drivers. I have or am neither.
