I'll throw in my 2 cents worth.
At the risk of sounding like an old "fuddy-duddy", let's keep the racing on the track. I think what you are looking for is what we do out at Beverley (about an hour out of Perth) and it's called Autocross. Try visiting the BORMSA website (Beverley Off Road Motor Sport Association). There are plenty of local rally drivers that use it for shakedown testing. When we race, we have 2 cars that go head to head. There's virtually nothing to hit and it's a great place to hone your dirt road skills. There is also some youtube footage to check it out.
There is currently no racing due to fire risk, but it starts again in about April. It's CAMS sanctioned and it's one of the cheapest CAMS affiliated clubs you can join. Racing for the day is about $70.
