Hey maddog, thanx for the info as per phone & others as per this and the linked thread.

Looking at the pic on the linked thread, the afm is obviously a different type to the stock 99-00. Assuming the sensor area is the plastic covered metal plate on mine, I don't have a cotton tip small enough to reach the surface before being stopped by the plastic cover. I can force the cotton tip but wonder about damage. The whole thing looks like a sealed unit, as I would expect, therefore disassambly is not an option.

Just spraying the metal plate without mechanical wiping of the sensor plate hasn't made a difference as yet, any other ideas? Perhaps it's $tuffed & time for a newie? The car's done 150k and I don't know if it's ever been replaced as yet
