On the plus side, the nerves are dead so I can't feel a thing and don't require any needles!

Had the same thing happen (with pavement though). Laughed when the Endodontist said he could do the root canal without anaesthetic because the teeth were dead, no thanks!
Costs never end though. Half a capped tooth fell apart (most of the visible tooth fell apart...) a while back so had to have a crown put on, which is only temporary and will need both front teeth replaced with fakes.. 10 grand each apparently!
Dental surgeries are my least favourite place on the planet now.
