The HD Radio in mine works fine. I have all the station data coming through too.
Not sure about Navigation, I didnt want it (If you want Navigation you would buy the 8400BH). I would agree with you that it should just be an issue of map files. Unless you are using something like AppRadio where it uses Google Maps through your phone.
