I've been around GT's most of my life, but I learnt something about this one a few weeks ago when we took it to the guy whos doing the resto.

first thing he had to do was confirm it was an orignal gt before any $$$ is thrown at it & here is where it got interesting (and scarey for a 1/2 an hour or so...)

he noticed that the chassis number was not stamped in exactly the right spot on the shock tower, so as you would understand we were shitting bricks..

out came the paint stripper to see what was stamped where the number should have been - was this not a JG33 after all?? for the last 20+ years i was sure its was genuine.

long story short when the number was first stamped they got 2 numbers around the wrong way near the end of the number, so the whole chassis number had been crossed out & restamped by the factory.
so with that, the ok was given to start the resto!
