my 2c, I rate my Onkyo amp. They run a little hot but nothing a little extra cooling fan cant sort. (only used when its getting abused) Will also run 2 zones (no additional amp) and 3 zones with an extra external power amp in the mix.
Re rears, the missus hates the clutter of all my gear so now have the surrounds (7.1) cut into the ceiling. As it is a living room as well it does definitely reduce the amount the AV gear can take over the room.
Recently upgraded my Aarons to Monitor Audio. Not a massive step forward to be honest. Still have the Aarons (black) in the shed and will sell for cheap.
Are in perfect working order and punch hard. Welcome to take em and try them.
