Finally some sanity prevails in window tint requirements. In WA you are now (as of April 13th 2013) able to tint glass behind the driver (or the B pillar) to 20% visual light transmission. The front windows are still only 35% VLT. The laws are to bring tint levels in line with privacy glass standards. I would suggest 20% is a completely acceptable level as 16% is too dark for easy night time driving. Mind you NT is allowing 16% on rears.
Please see
Window Film Association Bulletin and here
West Australian Specific Laws.
Also note that special exemption may be given on a case by case basis for vehicles fitted with privacy glass to apply lower than 20% film on rear windows to MATCH any existing privacy glass on rear windows.
Brought to you so that you can be informed when getting a yellow from an ill informed police officer. However, all drivers windows MUST BE 35% VLT.
All I can say is about bloody time and I was ahead of my time.
Could a mod sticky this please.
