$1500 for a new VF34 isn't far off the average price I've ever seen for one, maybe you might catch someone having a sale for $1200 or so, its not like they are sub 1k and he's getting torn a new one.
It's not a stupid comment.

I was simply stating that there is no need to overpay for a turbo you can get second-hand for much less and you CAN find good examples. There are plenty of WRX's running second hand turbos without fault on PWRX.

I found a AVO450 for only $600 (I admit, it was a little too big) and that thing ran fine for my use with it and the next owner put it to good use on an EJ207 and made north of 300WHP on a modest tune.
