utilities in aust is relatively cheap compared to other developed countries
the problem i would say is that a lot of equipment are aging and a lack of urgency in maintaining or replacing them with new equipment will see prices skyrocket very quickly, which tends to pissed ppl off

there's plenty of gas (10% of each gas field treated in WA is ring fenced for domestic gas use). Just not enough (efficient) gas turbines to use it
they are not cheap to purchase, and they do need a fair bit of water for cooling (which is the other problem in WA).

solar is great, but if you're doing it to get the tarriff, then its not sustainable
most ppl will take 10-15yrs to pay off and by that time the efficiency of your solar system would be down to the 20-30% and time to replace
i'll be waiting for the technology in battery cells to improve and putting that solar power into the power packs and use it when i want to and not during daylight

i've got solar now - good deal off an antilag sponsor!
