Am I the only one cynical of their timing?

I predicted this months ago. Charges are laid with 3 home & away games in the season left to play. By the time Essendon present their case to the AFL Commission, there will be 1 round left to play. Once the AFL Commission hand down their verdict, the H&A season will have just concluded.

The predicted penalty will be stripping of points and being booted out of the finals. If the AFL charged and eliminated Essendon's ability to play finals mid-season, how many spectators do you think would turn up to watch the games live or on TV? Massive revenue loss to the AFL if there's nothing to play for. How many people watch NAB Cup? It would be essentially the same.

Co-incidence that the matter will be wrapped up *just* after the final home and away round?
