Sounds to me like the battery may be dead. Alternator could be stuffed which drained battery, lack of power caused it to cut out etc. Charge your battery and if it starts fine afterwards theres a good chance that is all it is.

^^^This man deserves a cookie because I think /hope this is the problem
I've put a new battery and relays in and it will turn over now but just won't start so I'm going to get a different alternator but does anyone know if one from a 98 forester will be the same as mine ? And just incase there turns out to be more problems I've got someone to look at the car next week too....yaaaaay more money being spent
I will eventually have everthing fixed and have no more issues and I look forward to that day.
