As previously said anything can win especially in these highly promoted races. Odds are primarily effected by how much money people have bet on it, has slim to do with the horses ability.

My advice pick a horse paying less than $20 bucks, and put $10-20 each way. Will make good money if it wins and still make profit even if it places.

i'd then jam some money on some tri's (box 4 horses and out 5 bucks on)
or do first four (box 5 horses 5 bucks on)

you'd surprised what big money you can win from them with a bit of luck... Last year my mate had 12% of the trifecta, which i think was paying $40000 or something?

anyways the kid ended up with 7k off an 8 dollar bet.
