What I do for my customers in this situation is to remove the passenger side timing belt cover. It's relatively easy. then wind the engine over by hand using a socket on the crank pulley and inspect the belt. If I cannot easily read the part number/branding and the painted lines on the belt or if the teeth marks are evident through to the smooth side of the belt I condemn it.
