That size will not fit without guard work and coilovers.
Here is a wheel setup that would sit 10mm further into the guards then what you are proposing.
18x9 +38 (245/40/18)

The widest tire I've seen run on an 08-10 WRX without fender modifications was 255/35/18. However, this was on a WRX running coilovers so the height and dampening were adjusted to accomplish this fitment without rubbing
