If they found your timing belt was actually in worn condition and going to break, they just saved you thousands. Just unfortunate bills and problems pile up at one time.

But yes, not disclosing the full extent and cost of the timing belt service at the beginning is kinda shitty of them. Generally, timing belt service is belt and all moving assemblies with it.

Hyundai ripped me with the getz recently, I told them to contact me before conducting expensive work, they doubled my bill without telling me and charged premiums for simple shit I could have done. I know your pain, just gotta deal with it.
