Not a whole lot the average punter can do about the countries problems besides work and spend money. More money spending through the system the better for the government/country. 0.25% off the mortgage gives them slightly more money to spend. Not sure why they wouldn't be happy about it unless they were relying on interest to live (pensioners etc.).
Be happy, spend money, hope that the austerity measures get through and do their job without crippling the economy while we claw out way out of large national debt and hope that Labor don't get in and dig us in it even worse.
