Not sure how you'd lose money. Any cash you've already spent is a sunk cost, and any depreciation has already occurred. All you would be doing is crystallizing those "costs" if you sold it. The difference is, like others have said, an STi is a much better base to start modding for the track and so over the long run you will have spent less money to get where you want.
