Default Buy Rising Sun Short block and disassemble

Hi legends,
Ok so the time has come to get myself a block and start building.

So with my limited but growing theoretical knowledge but v limited practical knowledge, im looking for the best start point.

Please advise me if this is a totally shit idea.

Buy a brand new ej257, 270kw short block from Rising Sun. They provide block.
My thinking is they will send a perfectly built medium power short block as a start point.

Now there is no rush to get it into a car (will be 2011 wrx at this stage, tranny upgrade when/if needed).

So my question is, would it be to my advantage to buy the RSS short block and set about dismantling it (very slowly and cautiously) in order to greater improve my knowledge and build skills.

So yes dismantle meticulously and then rebuild without changing anything.
Kind of a reverse engineering project.

Also at least i know the engine is spot on before dismantling, therefore the many things i am not familiar with, tolerances/measurements/testing etc will be correct.
So I wont be fucking that shit up on my first build. Just taking measurements and observing the detail.

So the intention to dismantle a RSS short block, learn, observe, upskill and then complete the long block and put into a 2011 wrx with a Blouche 1.5xtr or so.

Can any please advise me if this is a fairly sane idea and path to follow?

Or its a totally shit idea and id be better off taking another

Any constructive guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
