They seem to last when they are sub 350 - 360hp (pistons, rods, etc), but any engine pushing 600HP or more to the wheels only takes the smallest defect or problem to turn into a big problem quickly.

At the end of the day the EJ207 is the proven yardstick for big power and Daz is one of a few guys in WA with big powers EJ257 and even with his expertise, knowledge and skills it has been an uphill battle.
