Post EPA & RMS Defect & Eng Cert related questions

Hi Community,

I'm new to the forum. Please enlighten me if anything wrong.

The story:

At 10:30pm, I was driving 50km/h on road last week. Nearly all cars on that road got pulled over by police checkpoint. I thought it was only a RBT but it turned out a big defect operation in Eastern Suburbs in NSW.

People were asked to follow the patrol car to the nearest temp EPA defect station. My 2015 STI got defected for only having one cat(q300 turboback system) while the STI is supposed to have two as well as the exhaust(q300) noise was 8db(95db) over the limit(87db they said).

My assumption(please correct me):

1. Defect by EPA doesn't have demerit points.
2. Defect by EPA, they will only check the things listed on the defect list.
3. Defect by EPA generally require to pass test by testing instrument and will be given a blueslip?

4. Defect by Police & RMS has demerit points.
5. Defect by Police & RMS requires a full check mechanically, visually, and everything.
6. Defect by Police & RMS because of modifications generally require an engineer certificate to clear it.

My questions:

1. Because highway patrol car has "Automatic number plate recognition system" connected to a database, will the car have defect history automatically get flagged and harassed?

2. How do you guys deal with the aftermarket exhaust system with only 1 cat? (most aftermarket exhaust systems have 1 cat, don't they? but dont want to mess up with EPA emission test)

3. By legislation, a car requires a cat and needs to pass the emission test. Can they defect you onsite only by looking you have 1 cat? How do they know if the rear cat is not bigger and better than the stock two? How do they know you don't have the other cat inside the downpipe?

4. If inspection required by EPA, will they only check the defected things listed on paper or they will need a full check? will they defect new findings during the inspecation?

5. Will they give a blueslip if everything good after the inspection?

6. Do I have to choose a RMS certifier listed on RMS website to do an engineer certificate if later on I want to do a turbo upgrade and want an eng cert?

Thanks
