If you want to fix it... Do a manual delete.
Attempt a normal uninstall first without re-installing.
Delete all symantec files in the Program Files directory.
Get into regedit and so a word search for "norton" and "symantec". Delete all references to those words.
re-do the un-install from add/remove programs, windows will see its not there and should ask you to delete the program from the add/remove list.
Re-start the computer
Re-install Norton.
If that doesnt work, FORMAT C:, and start from scratch.
