Default Subaru bucks the market

SUBARU BUCKS THE MARKET

Subaru was one of just three top 10 automotive brands to achieve positive growth in February, with sales of 3746 vehicles, according to official VFACTS figures.

Subaru sales were up 5.9% for the month and 11.7% Year-to-Date (YTD) – in a market down 7.7% for the month and 3.8% YTD.

Subaru’s market share was 4.2% for February and 4.5% YTD.

Star performer for Subaru was new generation All-Wheel Drive Impreza – recently named Japan Car of the Year - with 962 sales, up an incredible 141.7% for the month and 135.3% YTD.

It was closely followed by Forester, with 940 sales, up 4.4% YTD.

Outback sales of 838 were also strong – Outback 2.5i Premium was recently named Australia’s Best All-Wheel Drive Sports Utility Wagon under $50,000 by the nation’s motoring organisations, for the second consecutive year.

Also performing strongly was the recently revamped BRZ sports coupe, with 41 sales, up 25.0% YTD.

Subaru Australia Managing Director, Colin Christie, said: “We’re delighted by the response to new Impreza, which has been kicking huge goals for us since the mid-December launch.

“It’s pleasing that we’ve got broad customer appeal across so many categories – including Impreza in passenger vehicles, Forester in the Sports Utility Vehicle class and BRZ in the sports car class.

“With the unveil of next generation XV at this week’s Geneva motor show, we’re getting even more excited about the future.”
