You say about the throw away society. Just before the UK held the Olympics. The government gave 2,000 GBP for you to 'scrap' your car and buy a new one. So people were selling really old cars and buying little i10's and i20's as they were cheap.

The UK did this so when the world came to London, all the cars were new so they looked better.

The downside, the dealers selling the cars, on sold 'service packs', so small workshops lost the servicing of the cars and the dealers workshops also struggled as they were servicing cars for free for x amount of years because the services were paid up front.

There will always be petrol and diesel cars out there. But as we have seen already, the advancement of the electric car in the last few years, how cool are they going to be in 20 years from now!

That said, cant beat a petrol car!
