Oil was fresh 10W-60 Nulon, haven't thought to have a good look at the oil pick up but I will next time I have the chance. Would be nice to find out why, that's for sure! Oil pump will be investigated when the timing belt comes off, will look pretty terrible regardless with the amount of metal its mushed up but some clues there would be nice.
The way it went is what got me, absolutely nothing audible until I was coasting along. And once it started, it was like the bearing just fell apart completely. Only thing unusual about the run was I (supposedly) hit 170 km/h over 800m, and I had been doing that over 400m.
Didn't have the bottom end apart when I had the heads redone, would have paid to then. Lesson learned I guess
