That and bearing failure is pretty common failure point for subarus.

(That is when the pistons dont blow first, or when the head gasket doesnt blow first, or when the cylinders dont split first, or when the con rod doesnt bump into the bottom of the power steering pump first, or when the cylinder head doesnt crack first, or when the timing belt doesnt fall off first, amd lastly when the gearbox doesnt explode first. So excluding all of that, then yes its pretty common.)
