Ant does use knock gear Adam, headphones and microphone if he needs to. Also, power FC's will show a decent level of knock on the commander well before any real knock occurs.. My two skylines would show anything up to 50 on the commander but absolutely no detonation was occuring.. It picks up other noise...

Chat to a tuner who knows PFC's well and the'll say the same thing.
