Power FC

Going to buy a PowerFC but have heard about rewiring a 300zx AFM in whilst im there as they are alot more durable then the MY00 stock ones.

Anyone advise against this? Pros Cons maybe would be nice seeing as verso for my00 isnt avaliable in WA.

Or point me in a thread that discusses this would also be acceptable :P

yer the z32 are a great afm... the best ya can get

they dont get destroyed from oiled filters and they are a larger diameter so they can sustain a large ammount of horsepower

Elrico 21-03-2007 08:07 PM

Ahh sweet, im shooting for about 300bhp roughly. So the z32 should be able to handle such limits ill assume :D

mr_psi 21-03-2007 08:14 PM

yer definitely

If you're looking for that figure, you'll have to shell out a bit of coin, so why not dish out a tad more for a full ecu. eliminating the AFM totally and getting more out of your future mods...

Elrico 21-03-2007 08:48 PM

Mmmm because the coin that i do not have lol.

$950 for PowerFC
$1000 for re-wire z32 AFM, installed (just replacing the ECU), and tune.

Or

$1800 for a 2nd hand motec
$800 for tune as cheapest i been quoted is $195 an hour for 4 hours.
If they charge to install it, that cost aswel.

Just doing my homework atm. $1500 a week as a 3rd year app in the mines if i get the job will determine my quality of car :P. That or i save for a later model STi, although i love the classic shape :(

Vh41/5 is better then Z32 - and it has nothing to do with diameter even though it helps a little - its that there reading range is alot bigger, therefore doesnt max the pfcs reading and screw with the tuning abilities.

Or get an autronic *cough* http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10813

where did you get the price on the 2nd hand motec?!!

i've never seen it below $2000, and that's for the MY99/00 pnp M800
Its around $3200-3600 supplied, installed and tuned (new)
second hand goes for around $2400

don't get it confused with an autronic cost

Elrico 22-03-2007 04:22 PM

I think i did get that confused with an autronic. My point is, if a PowerFC for $950 will get me 300bhp and a motec for $92358021840213 will get me 300bhp, why spend the extra cash? I wont have this car forever. Eventually will go for an sti or whatnot.

Just wondering if the PowerFC has any real flaws in its design.
