Autronic: Dash mounting PC serial interface
For all those running Autronic ECU's - has anyone bothered dash mounting a female 3mm (audio) jack plug running direct to the serial interface on the ECU. I've been thinking of doing this for a while so I can easily patch into the dash with the standard PC serial data link cable. Instead of having to pull the kickplate off the passenger floor every time I need access.
Anyone tried this? Or see any issues with it? Cheers. |
I think it is a good idea, I am planning to one day mount one in the top of the glovebox.

I leave my cord plugged in permanently and run it under the floor mat and curl it up under the passenger seat. Easy access when ever you need it.

Mine came standard with it....

Yeah, I have a stereo jack plug next to the glovebox, definately worth having if you regularly data log or fiddle with it. (your ECU that is....... ;) )
Or just as effective if you only want to use it on your own car is leave the data cble connected as Jon has done. |

YES! I can now break into the car and log your data!

...unless of course the ECU is locked.
