Default Autronic: Dash mounting PC serial interface

For all those running Autronic ECU's - has anyone bothered dash mounting a female 3mm (audio) jack plug running direct to the serial interface on the ECU. I've been thinking of doing this for a while so I can easily patch into the dash with the standard PC serial data link cable. Instead of having to pull the kickplate off the passenger floor every time I need access.

Anyone tried this? Or see any issues with it?
Cheers.

I think it is a good idea, I am planning to one day mount one in the top of the glovebox.

I leave my cord plugged in permanently and run it under the floor mat and curl it up under the passenger seat. Easy access when ever you need it.

Yeah, I have a stereo jack plug next to the glovebox, definately worth having if you regularly data log or fiddle with it. (your ECU that is....... )

Or just as effective if you only want to use it on your own car is leave the data cble connected as Jon has done.
